If you believe your business is eligible for the USDA Energy Grant (REAP), I wanted to give you a quick update. If you are considering submitting a USDA Energy grant (REAP) you will need to move quickly. This grant is designed to reduce the cost of a Solar energy system for rural area agricultural and commercial businesses.
The submission deadline for the USDA (REAP) grant is JULY 31, 2009. The USDA grant is very time consuming and requires input from a few parties that are allowed up to 20 days to respond. If you would like for us to prepare the grant application we will need to get started by Wednesday July 1, 2009.
I also want to share some good news with you on the TN-CET grant. As of Friday June 12, 2009 we have received our fifth TN-CET grant approval for our clients. We are currently preparing three USDA (REAP) energy grants and continue to submit TN-CET grant proposals.
For 2009 our clients have been awarded $269,859 in grant money for a total of 80,140 watts! We are eager to see what will be awarded from USDA. The above does not include the Federal incentive of 30%.
Here is a link to more information on the USDA Grant:
http://www.rurdev.usda.gov/rbs/busp/9006grant.htmThe USDA grant is a highly competitive grant and however, if you are fortunate enough to get awarded the grant you could have a break-even on a solar system in less than three years! Over time this would be a very lucrative investment.
Sustainable Future will be changing it's fee structure for preparing grant proposals. After June 30, 2009 Sustainable Future will be charging $500.00 to prepare and submit the TN-CET grant and $1,000 to prepare and submit the USDA grant. Our policy of applying the fees to the purchase of a system remains the same.
I want to clarify that I am not an expert with grants, taxes or government regulations. Before you make any decisions based on something I have reported please verify the information for yourself. I cannot tell you how many times policy, dates and regulations have changed since we have been involved with the energy grants.
If you would like to pursue the TN-CET, USDA, the Federal grant or have questions please call or email me at (865) 386-7860 /
